A modern retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Camille Kelly is in real danger of becoming an old maid—at least by Cherish, Montana, standards. She has all but given up on finding Mr. Right—until her broken laptop leads her to Aiden Peterson, a tall, dark, and handsome computer genius. Camille would never have believed her magic moment was right around the corner, but after two whirlwind weeks, she has a ring on her finger and has happily ever after in sight. However, she soon discovers Aiden is part of a daunting package deal . . .
As the eldest of seven brothers, Aiden has never had a problem living under the same roof as his rambunctious siblings. When he falls for Camille, he is confident she’ll fit right into his family’s already bursting home. He thought wrong. Aiden and Camille’s storybook romance comes to a screeching halt when she discovers her new living situation. Not willing to submit to a life mothering a bunch of grown men, Camille has only one option: she embarks on a campaign to improve her new brothers-in-law and marry them off. And what better candidates for wives than her own best friends?

I LOVE the musical 7 Brides For 7 Brothers and I was so excited when Anneka announced that she was writing a contemporary retelling but I was concerned. Its a large cast of characters and even in the musical and watching it multiple times, I still don’t know all the brother’s names and the girl’s names. I didn’t know how Anneka would do it!
I think she did it! It was a fun read that brought the songs from the musical to my mind as different scenes popped up. I think Anneka did a great job of keeping it fresh and new and adding more to the characters – I liked getting to know all the brothers and the young women! They all had their own different personalities and it was easy to remember who they were matched up with.
It was a little slow at the beginning but I feel like the last half really took off with the drama. I know some have said they don’t like insta love stories and while Aiden and Camille rushed into the marriage – to follow the storyline – I do think its more like the arranged/marriage of convenience stories where you see the couple learn about each other and how to communicate with each other. While Aiden and Camille weren’t my favorite pair to follow, I liked that I could follow the other brothers through Camille’s view to be able to see them fall for their own woman.
And I wondered how the whole kidnapping/sobbing women part would go – this was very much more PC and acceptable in modern times. 😉
If you love Christian elements in books, retellings and a fun romcom then I think you’d like this book whether you’ve seen the musical or not. Thank you to the publisher for an arc paperback copy of the book. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
